Do not kid yourself if you think that just any PC will do the job.I just installed the new Logan Airport which is a very complex scenery and it runs without a hick-up.This PC makes it so smooth you would think you were in a real simulator.Let me give an example FEAR comes with 5 disc and when it runs it's actually scary the characters look so real and the entire game looks like a movie your in and are part of (unbeliveable) is the word.

(they cut my message, so here's the rest):
lite imagery; the data exists.
If it doesn't fit on one DVD, then let it be 3 or 6 DVDs. [By the way, this discussion about CDROMs versus DVDs is silly. CDROMs don't even come into question!]

My interest is mainly to fly around and enjoy/explore the landscapes. Now in current versions of MSFS in large areas of the world all look the same, or monotone. Fly over a desert and you get bored, even when sim is accelerated. Then take a look at Google Earth or maps.google.com of the same area and become astonished how rich and interesing that area is! Now here's my wish: ALL of the World (except for oceans) should be mapped by detailed satel
FS2008 (FS-X I) I wish...

MY WISH FOR FS-x or FX-XI is this: go to www.airliners.net/ for a search and peep at several YS-11s. Japanese commuter with two Rolls-Royce engines. Beautiful views of the mountains of the Philippines at FL100 particularly when I was sitting right near the huge propellors! Try FS2004 RPLL to RPBU a runway in the mountains. All I need now is a YS-11. Come on you developers out there... PLEASE !!!

"DVDs 7x larger than a CD" - thanks, Arno. Hmm, must invest on a DVD unit now. Had a second look at the FS-X demo-spectacular scenery ! I flew at FL100 for the first time last week in a YS-11 60-seater twin from Asian Pacific. What a plane what beautiful engine sound. Come on developers let's have a YS-11 up and running please. I have photos and DV engine sound and video. There is also a YS-11A. Could not workd out what the 'A' was.
This is probably done because a DVD can contain 7 times more data than a CD-rom. For very detailed worldwide scenery this capacity is really needed. Maybe all scenery would be on one of the Flight Simulator X DVDs. (a normal DVD can contain 4,7 GB of data, CD-rom 'only' 700 MB = 0,7 GB) It won't make a difference I think. Best regards.

Finally for today... I hope MS takes into account that aircrafts' exteriors in the real world are... FILTHY !! The 787 in the screenshots looks clean and shiny. Not so in real life ! This is something I noticed a lot. Most aircraft, small or large need a wash !! But... they are not making money for their owners whilst being washed so they remail dirty. It looks as though only Singapore Airways bothers to wash and polish their planes.
FS2006 -- DVD or CD

Can anyone please explain to me and others who also don't know --> FS2006 on DVD or on CD ! What are the advantages of FS being on one or the other ? Wouldn't both carry DATA which the PC then processes and runs the simulator with ? Thank you.

I have just returned from 14 non-stop hours from Hong Kong, read the news, seen the screenshots. I liked what I saw and read but I suspect MS veered more into VISUAL REALISM and less into X-PLANE's FLYING REALISM. So this time I will ask REAL pilots which I should buy. Two pilots already told me that X-Plane wins hands down ! I shall continue listening. I saw no mention of flight realism. Only VISUAL realism appears to have been addressed by MS.

Hello All,
Has anyone notice that FS10 will be on a DVD Rom platform and not CD Rom.What this mean for those who don't know is that you will need a powerful computer to truly enjoy what FSX will have to offer and the powerful nvidia 7800 card or better.Since FSX will not release until late 2006 there's enough time to gather your goodies upgrade those PC's and graphic cards to enjoy the new quality it will offer.
